JEFFREY I. SHERMAN
PRINCIPAL

JEFFREY I. SHERMAN
Jeff is a founding principal of Delson or Sherman Architects, where his attention to detail and close site involvement during construction set a standard for design excellence. His deep understanding of structure, his compositional acumen, and his intellectual rigor set the creative direction of the firm.
Prior to co-founding Delson or Sherman, Jeff was a project manager for retail design at Pompei AD. For several years, he taught office and restaurant design studios at NY School of Interior Design. And he has written articles for the magazines Metropolis, Vogue, In Style, and Feed.
Jeff’s volunteer work included chairing the Design/Buildout Committee for the Green Hill Food Coop through completion of construction. He served as a board member of the Prospect Heights CSA. And he managed a successful campaign for safer crosswalks and bike lanes along Washington Avenue: initiating a traffic-calming design with the Department of Transportation, petitioning city officials, garnering press coverage, and seeing the project through completion.
Jeff received a Master of Architecture from Yale University’s School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, serving for years as an alumnus interviewer. He is a licensed architect in New York State and a LEED AP.

PERLA J. DELSON
PRINCIPAL

PERLA J. DELSON
Perla is a founding principal of Delson or Sherman Architects, where she guides the firm as an expert in both master planning and detailed design. Perla composes her clients’ goals into clear and elegant solutions and is noted for her attention to materials. Her collaboration with clients and team members maintains the firm’s high quality of service.
Prior to co-founding Delson or Sherman, Perla was Assistant Museum Architect and Capital Projects Manager at the Brooklyn Museum. As in-house architect, she oversaw planning and relocation of the museum’s departments and collections in preparation for their masterplan project, but also articulated the institution’s needs to the masterplan architects throughout the phased project. This gave her an insider’s perspective of the programing, budgeting, design, and coordination of a phased masterplan for a complex institution.
Perla is an active volunteer, and her focus on fundraising and facilities gives her an ability to articulate the goals of the institutions and constituencies she serves. Perla was a Parent Co-Chair of Annual Giving at Packer Collegiate Institute. While serving on the Brearley School’s Alumnae Board, she was Alumnae Chair for the Annual Fund. She was an advisor on Brearley’s Ad Hoc Search Committee and architectural task force, making recommendations to the Head of School for their new $85M construction project. As Chair of the Dodge YMCA Property Committee, she represented the Y’s interests from a virtual Y to its first physical home in decades.
Perla received a Master of Architecture from Yale University’s School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. She is a licensed architect in New York State and a LEED AP.
