Park Slope Triplex

Despite its many exposures, this triplex was dark and labyrinthine. Straightening out the circulation sent shafts of daylight through the whole building.

The new stair runs down an uncovered stone foundation wall, while the steps morph into bookshelves.  Removing the old stair from the kitchen freed up room for long run of soapstone countertops on high-gloss cabinets.  We slipped a new laundry chute down through the three floors, finishing each in teak, bamboo, and Chinese maple.
