Upper West Side Apartment

Originally, this Upper West Side apartment was a warren of small rooms and smaller hallways.  By merging the rooms and halls, we improved the circulation while enlarging the spaces.  A cramped kitchen, once buried in the dark middle of the building, emerges spacious and functional, now with natural light pulled from the living room.  The master bathroom is convertible:  a run of sliding teak and ribbed glass doors close off the component functions.  But when opened, they convert the various wet spaces into one big suite.
