Park Slope Triplex

Despite its many exposures, this triplex was dark and labyrinthine. Straightening out the circulation sent shafts of daylight through the entire building. The new stair runs down an uncovered stone foundation wall, while the steps morph into bookshelves. Taking the old stair out of the kitchen freed up room for long soapstone countertops on high-gloss cabinets.  A new laundry chute slips through the three floors, each finished in teak, bamboo, and Chinese maple.
