BROOKLYN HEIGHTS BROWNSTONE

In this large brownstone addition, period charm and dynamic modernism join forces. The living room’s coffered ceiling and wide opening to the stair are new but historically correct upgrades. These period re-creations, however, contrast with the clean lines of the open kitchen, which is full-height bamboo and stainless steel.

The cut-away floor of the dining room adds spatial interest, while clearing the way for a double-height wall of glass. The steel windows fill the two floors with sunlight and garden views.

Crisp new stairs play against the original ornate stairs. And lastly, a laundry chute runs from the bedroom floors to the basement laundry room.
