Greenwood Studios

This commercial building looked like the ugly sweat shop it was.  Despite a tiny budget, the Brooklyn architects transformed it into sunny studios for a textile designer.  By cutting in giant new window openings, the facades went from messy to  monumentally rational.  The once dark interiors now have expansive views of Greenwood Cemetery and the harbor beyond.  And sunlight washes over floors of polished concrete and maple plywood sliced into planks.
